Global Strays needs your help in the fight to end animal cruelty in the Dominican Republic (DR). You can help us today by demanding animal abuse to be punished to the full extent of the law.
Intentionally running over strays, leaving poison out on the sidewalks for the sole purpose of killing off the stray population, hosting dog fights for entertainment purposes, sexual abuse — just a few of the incidents that have become routine in the DR. Unfortunately, perpetrators are getting by with a mere slap on the wrist.
Law No.248-12 sanctions the mistreatment of animals and ensures that there are proper institutions to enforce the compliance of this law. We’ve joined together with our partners in the DR to petition for the rewriting and comprehensive enforcement of the law.
Something needs to be done. As an international animal welfare organization, Global Strays cannot just sit by, and we hope you won’t either.
We need to take this initiative directly to the Dominican Republic’s Head of State, President Luis Abinader.Let's show him that the lives of these animals truly matter.
