Hi Global Strays Partner,

As a much-needed midweek break and for National Pet First Aid Awareness Month, we put together a giveaway and some useful tips for you and your pet.

We have partnered with MyMedic so you can better equip yourself with the proper first aid supplies and knowledge. By taking the time to prepare yourself for potential emergencies now, you could save your pet’s life in the future. Head over to our Instagram for a chance to win a Pet Medic MedPack and Global Strays merchandise. Our giveaway will be open until tomorrow at 11pm, and FIVE winners will be announced on Friday 4/23 on our IG story.

Your Pet Medic MedPack will have everything you need to address common injuries among pets. Each MedPack includes:

  • Sterile gauze to stop bleeding

  • Benadryl for allergic reactions

  • Antiseptic topical wipes for minor cuts/scrapes

  • Tweezers to remove ticks or foxtails

  • An anti-slip lead

  • And a downloadable first aid guidebook

Be prepared for potential crises by keeping emergency contacts (i.e. the phone number of your vet & animal poison control) on hand, as well as a pet first aid kit. In case of a pet emergency, stay calm and consider the following:
1. Assess the environment: remove yourself and your pet from any potential danger.
2. Now that you & your pet are in a safe place, slowly examine it and stop if the animal shows signs of agitation.
4. We recommend finding something to muzzle your pet (animals in pain can bite). The exception is if the animal is vomiting.
5. If you do not know what to do, call an emergency veterinarian hospital or your local veterinarian. Often they will explain how to stabilize the animal while you transport it to the clinic.
6. If possible, use your pet first aid kit to stabilize injuries by applying pressure to bleeding, or splinting broken bones.
7. Providing pet first aid is NOT a substitute for professional help, and should be followed by immediate veterinary care.
