Hi Global Strays Partner,

I hope this email finds you well. It is with heavy hearts that we honor the passing of the Founder of one of Global Strays trusted partners, Angela Castelblanco.

Angela was a woman who helped thousands of animals for more than 20 years at her shelter on the top of a mountain in Santandercito, Colombia. As a young woman, she decided to dedicate her life entirely to the animals of Santadercito because she saw the dire need for an animal shelter in this region. She told Global Strays, “Me and my husband Carlos are the only ones helping animals in this region of Colombia.” When Global Strays first met Angela in 2018, we were blown away by her enthusiasm and the overwhelming sense of love and positivity she emanated. We saw the extreme need at her shelter: Angela and her husband Carlos used their limited resources to help animals, doing the best they could with the very little they had. She left her incredible mark on this world with her tireless work to rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for abandoned animals. She will be missed immensely.

Global Strays will continue providing dog and cat food, veterinarian care, paid salaries for Carlos and another caretaker as well as additional necessities to the dogs and cats of Albergue-Santandercito Cundinamarca. We are sending love and strength to Angela’s family, Carlos, and the animals of the shelter who will miss Angela dearly.

Angela—we thank you for always being there for those that needed it most. We will always look up to you. You warmed all of our hearts. It was such an honor to know you and thank you for all the lives you have touched.

We also want to acknowledge all of you, Global Strays supporters, who have helped Angela and Carlos with their animals in the last few years.
