Dear Global Strays Partner,

I hope you’re curled up by the fireplace, a mug of hot cocoa in hand, and surrounded by loved ones (both two-legged and four!). The holiday festivities are in full swing at my house and my dogs are especially excited for Santa Paws to visit (as if they don’t get enough treats throughout the year!).

Tis the season for warm and fuzzy feelings, and have I got a heartwarming story to share with you.

Aquiles’ Story

Last April, Aquiles was brought to our partner shelter, Rescatando Huellas Nicaragua, after being rescued from the streets of Managua where he was cruelly abandoned and left to suffer. He was detrimentally malnourished and needed a blood transfusion to survive. Global Strays funded these life saving medical treatments. After 5 months of care at our partner shelter, he was finally in good health. All he needed now was a home.

Dr. Kelly Gonzalez, one of Aquiles’ veterinarians, felt a special connection with him and adopted him! She said,

“When I met Aquiles, we were providing care at the Rescatando Huellas shelter. He had just been rescued, in terrible conditions, thin and dehydrated. Despite being in poor shape, he was always gentle and noble. He knew we were helping him. We faced months of challenges with his treatment. Being with him through this challenging time made me grow fond of his nobility and, above all, his unique personality. He fought for his life and deserved a second chance to have a home."

💚Thank You❤️

I hope this story with its happy ending made your heart as full as it did mine. From a starving stray on the streets to being adopted into a loving home, Aquiles is a testament to the impact YOU are making by supporting Global Strays. Because of you, there’s just one more dog spending Christmas with a warm home and full belly.

Our work is nowhere close to being done, and there are still countless strays in need of our help, but I enter 2024 with gratitude and hope. With your support, Global Strays will rescue even more strays, educate even more students, and continue our mission of alleviating animal suffering worldwide.

Happy holidays,

Liz
