Georgina Bloomberg
Georgina is a professional equestrian, philanthropist, published author and passionate animal activist. In addition to a successful competitive show jumping career, Georgina serves on the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Foundation, the Bloomberg Family Foundation, the Hampton Classic Horse Show, the Lake Placid Horse Show, and the board of Trustees of the United States Equestrian Team. She is also the Chair of Humane Generation New York, a HSUS program that engages young leaders with humane work. Additionally, she serves as Vice President of Animal Aid USA and an EQUUStar for the EQUUS Foundation. Now a program of the EQUUS Foundation, Georgina founded The Rider’s Closet in 2006, which accepts riding apparel donations from around the U.S. and shares them free-of-charge with equine charities, scholastic riding programs, pony clubs, equestrian camp programs and individual riders in need. Most recently, she became an ambassador for One Drop Foundation, an organization that aims to ensure sustainable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for the most vulnerable communities through innovative partnerships, creativity and the power of art. Georgina, her son, Jasper, and their large four-legged family of rescue animals split their time between homes in New York City and North Salem, New York, as well as South Florida.
Georgina says, “I have been able to work with many rescues in the USA and transport dogs from many places, but I understand that it is simply putting a band-aid on the situation. I love that Global Strays is working to fix the problem at the root, both by educating people on how they can properly take care of their animals, as well as making it possible for people to access proper medical care or spay and neuter services. Working with Global Strays is a vital part of my efforts. I thoroughly believe in their work and the lasting effects of what they are doing.”
